Illustration...

I haven't actually done a piece that uses hand drawn illustration since I started this course (at least I don't think I have)! So, as a piece of experimentation I have produced this vector, illustration and digital colour image, that encompasses the seasons, and ideas associated with wellies...

Wellies...

At my interim crit, it was mentioned that I really needed to focus in on the actual wellies - rather than a person wearing them, or the countryside etc. So, I have been 'brainstorming' and come up with a few ideas that will hopefully give me a platform for the next stage (designing stage) of this brief.

I have considered using close up photos do depict each season, and produce a booklet/leaflet for each season;

These were considered a strong outcome for my brief, but need some work, and would also need to be used for a poster outcome.

Initial Ideas...

These two images show the mock-ups of possible poster layouts. The photographs used are all first hand, taken this previous weekend in Hertfordshire and Devonshire.

What is good?...

For our new Design for Print brief we have to focus on the word good. I have chosen to do my project about Wellies, because I think they're good. I wasn't really sure where to start with this brief as it felt so personal. I have decided to take some photographs, and ask other people how they feel about wellies, and tried to find an area of why they're good to focus on.

Don't Panic/Machine...

These images are a range that I came up with for a Don't Panic poster brief, based on the word machine. In a crit it was said that the pink didn't work, so I switched it to a brushed metal background to incorporate the idea of machine.

Double Page Spreads...

As a culmination of the Colour for print project, we are required to produce 6 double page spreads, each one informing about a different colour system. I have tried to keep the spreads simple and easy to understand. I found that the hardest part was actually writing the information as I wasn't always sure of what I needed to say! These are some examples of the layouts:

Colour Channels...

I have broken my chosen image (the paris metro sign) down into it's colour channels. The top image shows the 4 colour channels for CMYK, the lower image shows the colour channels for RGB.

Each of the channels represents a printing plate. If these images were going to a commercial printer, a plat would be made for each colour, ie. C, M, Y & K. These would then be used to produce the final full colour image.

Experimenting with colour systems...

I have started developing my images, and experimenting with the different colour systems that we have been investigating. The images below show the colour systems Duotone, Monotone, Tritone.
