People clearly hold way too much stock in Photoshop!

Innocent Spam...

I received a link to this designers website in an email.
I really love the material she has used to produce these images; each one is based on the words from Spam email. Each one has a humorous take on the content of the email. Wouldn't it be nice if all Spam was this innocent...

Cork Books...

These were a series of books produced as part of the Book of 100 brief. I made the covers out of cork, and the pages inside concertina out. I've only just gotten around to photographing them for my portfolio presentation, but here they are!

Typography...

We were shown these interesting video/animations at the beginning of a typography based project. I really like the way the type moves within these animations, and think that producing something that is interesting, and yet informative, through this medium is really clever - wish i knew how to do it!

The things we make...

I came across this designer through the website ilovetypography.com
I really like a few pieces of his work. Especially the contrast with some of the posters he produced for The Body Shop.

http://thethingswemake.co.uk/

I like the contrast between the hand drawn slightly comical images for the Hemp advert, and the crisp and professional tone of voice for the other posters. I like that the company have chosen to use the same designer for two very different pieces.

I also like this piece; a wedding invitation made for some friends of the designer. I like that it mimics a Mills and Boon book cover, it is very convincing!

Mail Shot...

This was a one week brief. We were each given a profession and had to produce a 'mail shot'; an envelope containing business card and at least one other graphic device. I was given the profession of Private Detective, and the idea was the portray this profession through the graphic devices the contents and the envelope itself.

1 Envelope
1 Business Card/Magnifying glass
1 Set of services provided/Set of negatives
1 Fingerprinting Kit

An Inspirational Calendar...

Butterfly; Setting reading free...

The following work was produced as part of a collaborative project with a partner. Our topic was 'Getting people to read more'. We wanted to focus on encouraging adults to read, rather than children, as most reading schemes are aimed at encouraging reading from a young age. We chose to target commuter; they are easy to find, and have down time on the train/bus in which they might choose to read a book. We felt that something active, out there in the community was the way to go, rather than just advertising reading. We decided to package up second hand books, and give them away for free; in the hope that they would be read and then passed onto someone else for them to enjoy. Each packaged book contained a leaflet, business card and web address and a bookmark.

We had to present this work to 3 other partnerships at the end of the week, ours was well received and people were impressed that we has managed to instigate this system and actually have a trail run within the week we had to produce this project.
